25 things I’ve learnt in 25 years.

I recently turned 25. And it dawned on me that if I was on the X-Factor I’d be in the ‘Over 25’s’, which is shocking to me because this category seemed ancient when I was in my teens. But now I’m determined to spread the word that 25 is still young, long live the tween years. You’ll find me worrying about my age when I’m in my 80’s. Until then, lets very well crack on!

In these 25 years I’ve picked up the odd nugget, the occasional pearl of wisdom, a flash of clarity. I thought I’d share some of these with you, kindly reader, in case these add some value to your life.

25 Life Lessons From Yours Truly…

Don’t keep socks with holes, chuck, chuck, chuck. Same rues apply with pens that don’t work.

Another underwear based one, don’t put up with uncomfortable pants. They might be pretty but they’re never worth the pain.

When you go to the cinema, get 2 snacks. One you can blitz through during the trailers and one you can enjoy during the movie.

Take time for self care, get carried away with self care, make self care a hobby.

Wash your bedding once a week minimum.

If you love someone, tell them. But more importantly, show them.

Furniture polish will take off ‘sticky stuff’ left by labels. Life hack.

Being outside with nature is good for the soul.

Don’t cut your hair on a whim. Think about it for at least a week, ask a trusted friend, look into the crystal ball, this is no laughing matter.

Remember the birthdays of those you care about, put them in your calendar and always send a card.

Try and let some things go, life’s too short for perfection, or hang ups, or arguments- try and see what really matters.

Brush your teeth. Even if you can’t be bothered.

Love your body, no matter it’s shape, size or appearance, it’s a marvel and our bodies do so much for us, we are all beautiful.

Shave, don’t shave, do what feels right for you.

Set the clock in your car a few minutes late, then you’ll always be that little bit ahead of yourself.

If you’re ever unsure what to do, think what advice you would give your best friend if they were in your position, then do it.

Always say how you feel, it’s awkward, it can be embarrassing but it’s more important than I can ever explain. Let’s talk.

Have a collection of spare blank cards in your house, then if you’ve forgotten an occasion you can write a card on the sly and get it sent off.

Take a hair clip into the shower with you- it means you can put your hair up and out of the way (maybe with a hair mask in it, ay ay) while you use your scrubs, body masks and shaving gel-this stops your wet hair getting in the way and dripping off your precious products.

Try and sneak some fruit and veg into your day, your body will thank you for it.

Keep some headphones in your bag, you never know when you might need them.
