Hey everyone!!
Let’s get musical and still talk about books in this song book tag. I love music and I am always listening to some and singing along so I am excited to do this tag.
I got tagged by Divine @ R E A (D) I V I N E to do this tag so thank you so much for thinking of me and tagging me. You should check out Divine’s blog because she has amazing posts about books and I love reading them. Of course check out her tag and listen to her music which is really good.
RULES
For each question, you will be giving both a song and book that goes with the question. They don’t have to go together.
MY JAM: A SONG YOU STILL LISTEN TO NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU’VE HEARD IT AND A BOOK THAT YOU’LL NEVER GET SICK OF
SONG: Starring Role by Marina
I love Marina! Her songs have a great message and I love her voice and tone. I also think she has a super unique voice, you could hear it and just know her voice which I love. This song is one of my favourite which I could easily listen to time and time again. Plus I could save so many great quotes from this song such as “Fed up with the fantasies that cover what is wrong”. She is one of my favourite artists and I will listen to this song always.
BOOK: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Found families are one of my favourite tropes ever and I might blame this book for that. I could read anything to do with this book all the time and I don’t think I will tire about hearing about these characters. I think they are all really complex and interesting but still fun to read about. So I definitely don’t think I will get sick of this book ever.
THROWBACK: A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF THE CRINGIEST TIME IN YOUR LIFE AND A BOOK YOU READ THAT YOU WOULDN’T LIKE IF YOU READ IT NOW.
SONG: Fabulous by Sharpay Evans (lol)
It is hard to pick a cringiest time because I can cringe at practically everything but I did a school dance to ‘fabulous’ for the school talent show and it was pretty cringe and if I had to watch that dance back I would probably die now so I’m glad I have no footage of me embarrassing myself in front of everyone. I can’t believe I did it to be honest, I think I was 8 or something.
BOOK: We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
I can’t remember too much about this book and I did enjoy it at the time but I am not 100% sure I would now as the plot doesn’t greatly appeal to me anymore and I don’t remember loving any of the characters but I might still like it who knows!! I am kind of curious to see if I will like it now but I don’t think I will.
REPLAY: A RECENT SONG THAT YOU HAVE ON REPEAT AND A RECENT FAVOURITE BOOK
SONG: white roses by Greyson Chance
I recently found Greyson Chance on Spotify and I have been listening to them on repeat. I love his voice and the theme of these songs. I have had many favourites from the portraits album but ‘white roses’ is a great one and I am obsessed. I think he has a great voice and the music is really gentle but energetic which is why I think I love it.
BOOK: Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
Radio Silence is in fact the last book I have read and I adored it. It had great characters and great themes. It felt like a very real voice and I loved how it valued friendship. I need another book with these characters….. PLEASE. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. This is definitely a forever favourite!!
GETS ME: A SONG THAT IS LITERALLY ME AND A BOOK THAT IS ME IN BOOK FORM
SONG: Human by Christina Perri
Well you see I am human and I bleed when I fall down. And I crash and I break down so I can clearly relate to the lyrics. I like this song because it is about how we are only human and we will make mistakes and you can’t expect people to be perfect or always happy so I think everyone can relate to this song in a way and I especially do.
BOOK: The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
Would you believe me if I said I am leader of underground crew which employ elaborate plans to steal from the rich so I can pay the boss of an even bigger underground gang so they don’t kill me. I am known only as ‘The Thorn’ and have a sword wielding companion…. no???? Then I don’t think I have any explanation that you will believe to this. 😉
WUT: A WEIRD SONG THAT YOU LIKED ANYWAYS AND A UNIQUE BOOK THAT STUCK OUT TO YOU FOR SOME REASON
SONG: Disney Princess by Lewberger
This is quite a weird song from the way it is sung and the lyrics. It is all about wanting to be a Disney princess and I find it quite funny and really catchy. It is unique but I do kind of love it even though I don’t listen to it that much, when I do I have a great time and it always makes me smile.
BOOK: I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak
I Am The Messenger has a unique mystery where the main character is given mysterious messages where he has to work out what they mean then do them. What makes it even more unique is the ending. It is quite a mind twist and certainly leaves your thinking about what it means but it is definitely memorable and I love the overall message.
LET’S GO: PICK YOUR BEST PUMP UP SONG AND A BOOK THAT INSPIRES YOU
SONG: Try Everything by Shakira
I actually love this song SO much!! And it is definitely an energetic song that makes you feel good about trying new things out even if you fail and if you are happy it is a great song to match your mood and make you feel even better. I LOVE IT. It has a great message and it is so catchy!!
BOOK: Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
This book inspires me as a writer because I love the writing style of this book and everything it touches on. I love how beautiful it is and I love how much dialogue is in it as it is my favourite thing to write so seeing that in a book was really comforting. Plus it has such great characters and the writing flowed so well. So this definitely inspires me with my writing.
CHILL: YOUR BEST CHILL OR RELAXING SONG AND A BOOK YOU’D CURL UP WITH ON A RAINY DAY
SONG: Generation Why by Conan Gray
Conan Gray has such a relaxing voice and tune to his songs and this is a beautiful song. It has great lyrics and I think it gives off a calming feel so I think this is perfect for when you want to relax. It is literally a heavenly song.
BOOK: Release by Patrick Ness
Release by Patrick Ness takes places across one day so I think it would be a great book to read in one day and I love the story and the writing. It is a raw and emotional book which touches on heavy topics but it is really beautiful with some great characters. I loved this book and would happily read it on a rainy day and well any day.
ADDICTING: A GUILTY PLEASURE SONG AND A LIGHT, TRASHY READ YOU CAN’T HELP BUT LOVE
SONG: I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) by The Proclaimers
This song is a classic and I feel like a lot of people know it and will sing a-long to it but no one claims it as their favourite song. I kind of forget about it until I hear it then I have to do the DA-DA-DA!! So in that way it is a guilty pleasure song haha.
BOOK: Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn
I don’t know… what even is a light book. All my books have pain and death.
This book does touch on all the emotions but it does have a light-hearted tone and fun plot so I think Heroine Complex fits this category best. I really enjoyed reading this and it had super-heroines, romance, humour, demon cupcakes, emotions, and friendships. I did really enjoy this but I can see how not everyone would.
NOSTALGIA: A THROWBACK SONG YOU LOOK BACK ON FONDLY AND A BOOK YOU READ AND LOVED WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG.
SONG: Summer Sunshine by The Corrs
This was a classic when I was growing up, me and my sister loved it. We had many CDs that we would put on and then skip to our favourite songs (ahh.. time before we realised we had the internet at our disposal) and this was definitely a song we loved to listen and sing to. I mean it sounds old now but it has a great tune and the chorus was amazing!!
BOOK: Sophie is Seven by Dick King-Smith
I’m not going to lie I probably did pick this book up because the main character is called Sophie and I thought it was so cool. *self-obsessed much* But she really liked animals which I adored and she was a determined main character so I loved reading about her and her antics. *See it was more than just the name* The writing was very easy so I remember really loving these books when I was younger and reading them all.
That’s the whole tag and now you know a bit about some of my music tastes haha. I really enjoyed doing this tag and it you want to do it then I tag YOU!!

What are your favourite songs? Do you have any recommendations I could listen to? What is your guilty pleasure song?

I love Marina so much!! Although I have to admit that I cant stand the Proclaimers song; I was already stressed once and it came on and I actually turned the radio off as a result 😅 I’ll have to check some of the other songs out when I go upstairs (in lounge atm and the TV’s on). I still need to read these books as well but there are quite a few that I’m desperate to get on with.

Yes Marina is amazing!! I could listen to all her albums and I really would love to see her live one day!! I’m glad that you love her so much– I don’t think she is appreciated enough!!
Haha I can understand not liking the proclaimers song but I do kind of like it but I don’t even know why because all logic says I shouldn’t!!
I’m glad you might check the songs out, I always like finding new songs!! Yes I always have so many books I’m desperate to get to!!

Omg yes I’d love to see her live one day too; it would be amazing!! No I don’t either tbh. I don’t understand why she isn’t more popular.
The one thing I really don’t get about it is why it’s a Christmas song 🤔
I quite liked a few and I loved the Christina Perri one. I’ve heard several of her songs before – and loved them all – but Human was new to me (: me too.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes hopefully we’ll both get to go at one point!! 🙂
Yes I’ve never got that either and their are a few other Christmas songs which don’t seem christmassy either but still called Christmas songs which is weird. I associated 500 miles mostly with How I Met Your Mother now though, haha.
Yay I’m glad you liked a few and I’m glad you loved Human– it is my favourite Christina Perri one!! ❤

Fingers crossed (: Yes that’s so true. I think a few were number ones at Christmas and that’s why but idk about the rest. Ah I don’t think I’ve seen whichever episode it’s in. I really do ♡ I love every song I know of hers

Oh yeah I guess that makes sense 😂 but still not christmassy 😂
Haha it was in a few episodes as the tape was stuck in Marshalls car 😂
She has a great voice 😍

I agree.
Oh right. I’ve only ever seen the odd episode on E4 but I’d really like to see it from the start one day.
I agree 😍

OH MY GODD! I think it was fate that directed me toward this post because I just bought We Are All Besides Ourselves and looking forward to read it! 🤣🤣🤣 though your thoughts on the characters not being lovable enough makes me a bit apprehensive of the book now! 🤣🤣 well, let’s see where this story takes me!
SERIOUSLY THOUGH I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TAG, THIS POST!! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️

Yes it was definitely fate!!! 😂 Yay I’m glad you’ve got We Are All Besides Ourselves and I hope you really love it because as I said I did enjoy it the first time but I’m not sure about rereading it as it was such a unique experience the first time. 🙂
Aw.. thank you so much!! It was a really fun tag to so because music and books are awesome!! ❤

i absolutely love this tag! talking about music and books is like my top favorite things in the world.
i loved your answers too. sharply in the throwback is iconic. i also performed a high school musical song for a school talent show, hahah. but i performed what i’ve been looking for and it was pretty cringe-y indeed, but at least there wasn’t many people watching.
i’m pretty sure we talked about greyson chance before and i’ll definitely remember now to check out his most recent stuff. his voice must have aged so much since i used to listen to it!
and i also love that you chose the lies of locke lamor as a book that represents you, hahah. i think that would be the hardest question for me to answer, because i don’t read a lot of books i can identify myself with 100%. probably because of the lack of south-americas rep out there, sadly.
and the song from zootopia!!!#(#!)!! i love this song so much! i always watch the credits when i’m rewatching the movie because of it. my sister makes fun of me because it’s an animation soundtrack, lol. but it’s such a great track! and the movie is amazing as well.
i completely agree that conan gray has a really relaxing voice. recently, comfort crowd has been my song for chill days and i love the lyrics to that one as well. generation why is so smart as well! he’s a fantastic artist that i think speaks very well for teenagers.
a song i’d like to recommend is rain, by ben platt. i’ve been listening to it non stop this month and it’s a really good one! i think you’d enjoy it a lot!
amazing tag, sophie!

Yay I’m glad you loved this tag– I thought it was a really fun tag to do as music and books are amazing!! I never tag anyone as I’m never sure who’s done what but if you haven’t I would love to see your answers!! ❤
Thank you so much!! Sharpay was an iconic character with her personally designed locker and car!! 😂 Haha yes high school musical dance for talent shows are great!! Aw.. that's so cool– I love it!! I know I'm thankful that I don't remember too much about it now or what people thought!!
Yes I think we have and I do still love and listen to his new album on repeat, it would be interesting to see how his voice has changed (I still haven't listened to his younger stuff)!!
Haha I'm glad you loved that answer– it was hard to pick a book which represents me!! 😂 It really is a shame for the lack of south-america characters and I really hope lots more come out in the coming years!!
Try Everything is an amazing song– I love it too!! I think you have to listen to the credits 😂 haha I know I always feel weird saying I love an animation soundtrack and my friend was unimpressed when I told her (we have complete opposite music tastes though)!! I love the movie too and it is underappreciated I think, I only watched it for the first time this year though but I'm so glad I did.
His voice is beautiful and so calm– I love it!! Oh.. I will have to give that one a listen then! He is an amazing artist and yeah he does speak well for teenagers which I love!!
Ohh.. yay, thank you so much!! ❤ I will definitely listen to that ASAP!!
Thank you so much Lais!! ❤

This is such a lovely tag, Sophie ❤ I love how you included some songs I used to listen to but had almost forgotten about – nostalgia alert! It's funny how our tastes change so much, isn't it?
Love the books you included as well, and now I have some awesome new bands to get into so thanks so much for sharing! 🙂

Thank you– I really enjoyed doing it!! Haha there are some old songs on here but I love being reminded of nostalgic songs, it is weird how tastes change so much over time and constantly!!
Yay.. I love many of these books too!! Aw.. I’m so glad you could find some new music— I hope you enjoy them!! ❤
